What you'll see with your ticket

With your ticket you walk through the entire Vatican Museums complex up to the Sistine Chapel, which is at the end of the route. These are the must-sees:

Free entry vs. skip-the-line ticket

The Vatican Museums offer free entry on the last Sunday of each month, from 09:00 to 14:00 (last entry 12:30). It's a genuine option if you want to save money, but it comes with major trade-offs: it cannot be booked online, so you queue in person —which on that day is usually very long—, the hours are reduced and some dates are excluded (Easter Sunday, 29 June, 25, 26 and 31 December).

The skip-the-line ticket, on the other hand, guarantees your day and time, saves you the wait and can be booked from home. If your time in Rome is limited, it almost always pays off. We explain it in detail in our guide to free entry to the Vatican and in how to skip the queues.

Self-guided ticket or guided tour?

With this ticket you explore the museum your own way and set your own pace. If you'd rather understand the context of each work and have the guide brief you for the Sistine Chapel (where talking is forbidden), the guided tour from €67 includes admission and an expert guide. Want to see St Peter's Basilica too? Check the full combo.
