High season, holidays and summer
In August and high season the Museums are full any day and at any time, so what matters is to book skip-the-line access so you don't lose two hours in the line on Viale Vaticano. Be careful too with public holidays and long weekends, when Rome fills up. - Avoid the 10:00-13:00 window. That's when groups, cruise passengers and excursions overlap: the halls and the Sistine Chapel get busiest.
